Bensheim

Bensheim (40,000 inhabitants) is just off the A6 between Frankfurt and Heidelberg. Located on the Hessische Bergstrasse, the town is a tourist hotspot due to its historic centre and romantic location surrounded by vineyards. The Basinus Trophy is contested at an excellent sports park situated just one kilometre from the historic centre.

Activities

Hessen Mountain Road:

The area surrounding Bensheim is the Hessen mountain road: an incredibly picturesque landscape with many vineyards. Thanks to its protected location at the edge of the Odenwald, spring often arrives in Bensheim much earlier than the rest of Germany. It's because of this that the area is known as the 'German Riviera' - a fantastic place to play football.

Basinus Bad (Basinus Pool):

The Basinus bad in Bensheim offers fun for all the family in the indoor pools with water slides. The indoor swimming pool is around 15 minutes' walk from the sports park. There is also an outdoor pool, which is a small  lake 5 minutes' walk from the tournament location.

Heidelberg

Twenty minutes' drive from Bensheim is the medieval university town of Heidelberg. Visit the historic centre with its intimate market square and small shopping streets. And don't miss out on the view from the 13th century Heidelberg castle, the 1th century Old Bridge and the student prison, which dates back to the 16th century.

Organiser

Since 2004, the Basinus Trophy has been organised by FSG Bensheim in collaboration with the Hessen football association. FSG Bensheim was established on 22 July 1950 with the name SV 1950 Bensheim. The club has around 500 members.

Sport facillity

The Basinus Trophy tournament is played at the West sports park, which belongs to FSG Bensheim. It has 6 pitches and plenty of changing rooms. In the canteen and restaurant you can refuel between matches. It takes 20 minutes to reach the beautiful city of Heidelberg from the tournament location.
