You will certainly not want for things to do when you participate in the Trophée du Rhin. At least five matches, divided over two days, are planned for each team. In addition, the area has plenty of fun daytrips in store. The tournament organisation adds its own contributions to the programme of the 15th edition of the Trophée du Rhin. For example the team leaders are expected for a reception in the Brumath and La Wantzenau city hall on Saturday. Here awaits a proper introduction to the legendary hospitality of the Alsace area. The mayors of both towns see to a cordial welcome, and then the team leaders can sample the local Alsace wines and dishes. The tournament starts in full force on Saturday morning, when the participants step onto the turf for the qualifiers. The programme leaves room for visiting Strasburg on Saturday evening. The players are expected back on the pitch for the remaining qualifiers, the ranking matches and the final. In the evening, everyone is invited in Brumath, where the winning teams will lift the cup under a roar of applause.

Strasbourg (10 miles, 260,000 inhabitants). Strasbourg, the heart of the Elzas and of Europe, is situated at the border of the Rhine right next to Germany. From the outside, the city like most other cities may not look so interesting. Wait till you are in the old town! Here you will find beautiful buildings, nice alleys and a lot of entertainment. A couple of hours is not enough to explore the city, so you have to make a choice. The most important monument is the impressive cathedral. Between here and the "La Petite France", a district of the town with winding alleys, the city is filled with nice, lively streets with shops, restaurants and 'Winstub' - Alsatian taverns.
Places of interest in Strasbourg can also be viewed by boat: departures from the Palais des Rohan, daily from 9.30 - 21.00 hours, every half hour. Price indication: € 7, group discounts possible. The trip takes 75 minutes
Vosges. The Vosges is a breathtaking corner of (north east) France. The Alsace, which is part of this countryside, has a multitude of friendly villages, like Brumath and La Wantzenau in which the connoisseurs among us will immediately feel at home.
Saverne (12 miles from Brumath, 18 miles from La Wantzenau, 15.000 inhabitants). Offers a very lively center and a very nice pedestrian area. The magnificent Castle of Rohans, located on the edges of the Marne-Rhine canal, and the lock situated in the town center give Saverne a special image that reminds of the prosperous history of this place. The castle Haut-Barr and the Bridge of the Devil are worth seeing as well.
Brumath. Brumath (9,000 inhabitants) is situated 11 miles. north-east of Strasbourg. The village lies in the Alsace and describes itself as friendly and hospitable. The community tries to maintain the original character of the village as much as possible. In the archaeological museum, located in the “Cour du Chateau”, one can see the remains of the Gallo-Roman period. The most flourishing period of the village was the 19th century and from that time there are still several buildings left in the city, like the town hall, the “l’Eglise des Saints Nazaire”and “la Synagoge”.
Ship lift – Arzviller (30 miles from Brumath). The ship lift at Arzviller is unique in Europe. The lift was put into operation in 1969. The ship lift has replaced 17 locks and lifts the boats over a 45-metre drop! The boats are spared a day's sailing now they can be lifted by the ship lift. The lift is a container with water that the ship sails into. The ship is kept in balance by a tackle and a counterweight. You can tour the ship lift, but it is also possible to make a boat trip and so take a ride in the lift.
