Top of Holland Trophy Assen, Netherlands - 03 untill 04 April 2010 (Easter) (nl)

Never a dull moment at the Top of Holland Trophy. This tournament is the biggest sports event in the area with competitions for handball and football teams. All together over 150 teams participate annually. The kick off is immediately on Friday evening with a team leaders reception by the city council with live entertainment. The youngest participants (U13-U15 and G15) can have fun in the school during a disco party while the others can visit the fancy fair in the city-centre of Assen. The tournament starts on Saturday on various locations. In the evening the youngest participants (U13-U15 and G15) can have a dive in the subtropical swimming pool “De Smelt” (free entrance). For the older participants a sportshall will be transformed into a real dance arena where the party continues till midnight . On Sunday after the finals, which will be held on the various locations, teams will gather in the evening for the prize-giving ceremony and farewell party which will take place, in once of the biggest party venues in the Netherlands, Party Town Assen.

As well as participation at the tournament, Euro-Sportring also arranges the accommodation for the participants. Participants can usually choose between school accommodation, group accommodation (youth accommodation and bungalows) and hotels. Accommodations have been selected with care and must comply to a number of conditions such are they are within easy reach of the sports park, value for money, suitalbe for sports groups, safety provisions and a fliexible management. Assen. Assen has 65,000 inhabitants and is the capital of the province of Drenthe. The city centre offers the nice, friendly ambience of a city in the countryside. The centre consists of lively shopping streets and cosy areas with various restaurants, taverns and discos. At Easter you will find in the centre one of the a fancy fair with great fun till midnight.

'Speelstad Oranje'. (10 miles from Assen) 'Speelstad Oranje' with a surface of more than 4 football pitches, it's the largest indoor playground of the Netherlands. All the attractions like floating bumper boats, monorail, roller coaster, trampolines, an 18-hole mini golf course are especially for the younger participants (till 13 years). Swimming and entertainment centre 'De Smelt'. This is a large entertainment centre near the centre of Assen with an indoor skating rink, several bars and restaurants and a large subtropical indoor swimming and sauna paradise. Groningen, 15 miles from Assen, is the capital of the northern province of the Netherlands is well-known for its beautiful, centuries old city centre. The city has one of the greatest universities of the Netherlands. With lots of students living in the city centre, there is always much amusement here, particularly in the neighbourhood of the lively 'Grote Markt'.
