Franconodal Cup Mannheim (Frankenthal), Germany - 22 untill 23 May 2010 (Whitsun) (de)

The organisers of the Franconodal Cup manage to set up a great tournament year after year. The tournament weekend starts on Friday afternoon with teams checking-in at the school where most participants will be staying. Saturday is crammed full of football. A brief opening ceremony is a prelude to the qualifier rounds on the first tournament day. At noon the teamleaders are expected in the clubhouse for a meet and greet with their hosts. In the evening, the participants do not have to leave the sports complex for their music entertainment, as a pavilion will be set up to serve this evening. Sunday will be exhilarating as this is the day of the ranking matches and finals. The winners are handed their cup at the prize giving ceremony.

As well as participation at the tournament, Euro-Sportring also arranges the accommodation for the participants. Participants can usually choose between school accommodation, group accommodation (youth accommodation and bungalows) and hotels. The accommodation we offer has been selected with care and must comply to a number of conditions such as are they within easy reach of the sports park, do they provide value for money, are they suitalbe for sports groups, are they safe and are the management fliexible. Frankenthal in southern Germany, is an attractive town which is home to more than 50,000 people. Historic places of interest, including old churches, and modern day life combine well here. Wonderful shopping streets, lots of entertainment options and the hospitality of the people here makes this a great place to be. Just under 10 miles south east of Frankenthal is Mannheim, situated between the Rhine and Neckar rivers. Here too, participants will have a great time, with lots of places of interest in and around the centre and enough entertainment options to suit all tastes. A tour of the city is definitely advisable!

Heidelberg, 16 miles from Frankenthal, is a romantic yet lively town at the same time. Heidelberg combines the best of the two worlds. The legendary inner city, dominated by the famous castle at the top of the mountain, is one of the prettiest places of Europe. Heidelberg offers many attractive ingredients: picturesque squares, centuries old alleys, shops and boutiques, pubs and taverns, wine cellars and discos. No wonder, that Heidelberg is one of the most popular cities of GermanyMannheim.

Mannheim (3 miles from Frankenthal) is enclosed between the Rhine and the Neckar rivers and has developed thanks to its inland harbour. Its claim to fame is thanks to the car industry: Carl Benz produced his first car here. The city has a very special shape: a fully rectangular network of streets which almost all have a code instead of a name. A bus departs from the water tower on the Friedrichtsplatz daily at 10.30 hours for a two hour city tour, which includes viewing of Mannheim Palace and the view from the Fernmeldeturm communications tower. Park Hassloch (3 miles from Frankenthal). Hassloch is an amusement park with all kinds of extras. Prize winning attractions, fun, events, shows with live music, cheerleader castings, open air multi-media shows, children's land. Open from 9.00/10.00 hours to 18.00/19.00 hours (take care: the hours vary, depending on the day). Admission € 22.00 for adults. (1m40 and higher).
