BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Hans Bangerter/Switzerland – Chairman
Member of the Board since 1989.
Hans Bangerter started his career as the Assistant General Secretary of the FIFA. He served the UEFA as General Secretary from 1960 until 1989. Hans Bangerter is an honorary member of the UEFA, as well as of the Swiss Football Association. In 2002 the FIFA honoured him with the Order of Merit.

Gerhard Aigner/Switzerland – Vice-Chairman
Member of the board since 2006.
Gerhard Aigner performed a leading role within the UEFA for more than 30 years - as the Assistant of the General Secretary from 1970 to 1989 and subsequently as the Chief Executive Officer from 1989 to 2003. Gerhard Aigner is an honorary member of the UEFA.

Ernest Walker C.B.E./Scotland – Treasurer
Member of the Board since 1986.
Ernest Walker was General Secretary of the Scottish Football Association (SFA) from 1977 through 1990. Thereafter, he performed various roles within the UEFA for many years. UEFA honoured Ernest Walker in 2003 with its top Order of Merit (diamond) and in 2004 with the President’s Award for his special contributions to football in general.

Jan Peeters/Belgium – Member
Member of the Board since 2004.
Jan Peeters was President of the Royal Belgian Football Association (KBVB) from 2001 to 2006. Beforehand he was a.o. General Secretary of the KBVB. Next to his activities for the KBVB he is also member of FIFA’s Disciplinary Commission. Jan Peeters is honorary President of the KBVB.

Horst R. Schmidt/Germany – Member
Member of the board since 2007
Horst R. Schmidt has been serving the German Football Federation (DFB) since 1976. As director until 1992, then as General Secretary. Horst R. Schmidt has held the office of DFB treasurer since October 2007. He was First Executive Vice President of the FIFA Football World Championship 2006 organisation committee in Germany and is at FIFA’s disposal as an advisor for the Football World Championship 2010 in South Africa.

Jean Verbeke/France – Member
The French Football Association (FFF) is represented by Jean Verbeke, honorary Vice President of the FFF and former member of the organizing committee of World Cup 1998. Jean Verbeke was also Chef de Delegation of the French national team. In 2004 the French government honoured him as a Commander with the Order of Merit.
