International youth football tournament: Dazzling sun, deep blue seas, white sandy beaches, lovely boulevards and an exciting nightlife: for many simply the perfect blend for an ideal holiday. This is also the ultimate location for many football fans to hold an international football tournament. Many football clubs have been lured to the Spanish coast for a number of years through the efforts of Euro-Sportring. During the sixties Euro-Sportring offered programmes mainly centred in and around Barcelona, but this has since been extended to include all kinds of tournaments stretching along the Catalan coast. Celebrated seaside resorts such as Lloret de Mar, Calella, Blanes and Malgrat de Mar attract literally hundreds of football clubs from all over Europe, providing them with the opportunity to combine the enjoyment of international football with a fun holiday in a simply magical way.

Spain hosts an extensive programme, with tournaments taking place over the Easter and Whitsun holidays, during the summer and also in October. Over the years, more than 1000 teams from 22 countries have taken part in such tournaments annually. Organisation is in the hands of a very experienced and able committee, assisted by the Catalan football association.

Tournaments are held on a large sporting complex close to the popular seaside resort of Blanes. Facilities include no less than grass 13 pitches, laid out in terraces, on by far the largest sporting complex in Spain.

The Trofeo Mediterraneo takes place on a fantastic sport park, situated in Tordera (just outside Blanes) between Lloret de Mar in the north and Calella in the south. The distance from our various hotels will be 6 to 12 miles, ( maximum 15 to 30 minutes by car). From this unique sport accommodation, which you will not find elsewhere in Spain, you can enjoy a beautiful view on the sea.

There are thirteen well kept grass pitches (attention: no metal studs allowed!) and eighteen modern equipped changing rooms. Of course you find here a bar/cafetaria and a covered space to get into the shade when the sun is at its hottest. On this sport park you also have at your disposal our central tournament office, our information desk with clear scoreboards, the room for medical assistance, a field for training before and/or between the matches and large parking facilities. A unique atmosphere a football tournament.

During this tournament because of it's popularity and the number of participating teams it may be necessary to use, for one or two days, a few additional pitches in the immediate surroundings of the main sport park. Some of those pitches may be semi-hard.

Trophies:

In each category teams that finish in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th place will receive a trophy.

TOURNAMENT ORGANISATION

Since the early sixties Euro-Sportring offers in Catalonia an international sports programme. Over the years hundreds of teams have enjoyed an international sport tour on the pitches of this nice environment. Because of this experience, a network of skilled co-operators is created. Besides that, the development of international programmes has received great support from the Catalonia Football Association.

The tournament is organised by a commission that takes care of several tournaments each year. The referee committee of the Catalonia Football Association actively supports the organisation committee. During the tournament all games in all categories are directed by federal referees under the authority of the Federació Catalana de Futbol.

TOURNAMENT FORMULA

Participation of the Trofeo Mediterraneo is possible for clubs that are affiliated by their National Football Association conform the FIFA-regulations. The tournament is organised according to the regulations of the Catalonia Football Association, The Spanish Football Association and the FIFA.

TRANSPORT TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT AND DURING TOURNAMENT:

- AIRPORT SHUTTLE:

On the prescribed arrival and departure days (April 9 and April 13), a shuttle bus rides at fixed times between the airport and the accommodation. Because it concerns a shuttle service, it may be possible that there is some time between your arrival at the airport and the next shuttle.

If you want to use this shuttle service, you must indicate this when you make your booking. Cost indication: The airport shuttle can only be booked per team.

from Girona Airport: £7.00 (€9,00) per one way shuttle, per person

From Barcelona Airport: £9.00 (€11,00) per one way shuttle, per person

- AIRPORT TRANSPORT/LOCAL EXCURSION TRANSPORT:

The possibility exists to hire a bus especially for your group for transport from/to the airport and/or during the tournament days. If you wish to use this option, you must indicate this when you make your booking. Prices are available on request.

- TOURNAMENT SHUTTLE:

On the tournament days a shuttle bus rides at fixed times. This shuttle service only transports groups from centrally located pick-up points near the accommodation(s) to the sports park(s) and vice versa, for the groups own matches and the other programme items as described above. If you want to use this shuttle service, you must indicate this when you make your booking. The tournament shuttle can only be booked per team.

Cost indication: £26.00 (€ 32.00), for whole tournament, per person.

Be prepared for a stay full of attractions when visiting the Trofeo Mediterraneo. The group matches will be planned in a compact schedule, so that the participating teams will have some time to enjoy the numerous attractions in the area and perhaps even a visit of the beautiful city of Barcelona and its famous Nou Camp football stadium can be inserted! The tournament will start on Friday morning with the first group matches. In the evening the group leaders will be welcomed at a get-together with free drinks and snacks in the cosy club La Masia in Tordera, for an attractive music and show programme. The group matches continue on Saturday , followed by the classification rounds on Sunday. Sunday afternoon all attention will be focused on the finals, directly followed by a prize giving ceremony at the pitches.

Especially in the area between Calella and Tossa de Mar you will find wide, sandy beaches and lots of entertainment. Each resort has its own characteristics and attractions: Calella with its bustling centre, the beach of Santa Susanna, the charming atmosphere of Malgrat, the picturesque boulevard with the fisherman's wharf in Blanes, the exciting attractions of Lloret and the breath taking cliffs of the Costa Brava around Tossa de Mar. Wherever you stay, it is for sure that you won't have enough time to explore all the attractions in this area.Who doesn't know the great attractions of the beautiful Olympic city of Barcelona, a unique city? You will need more than a day to explore the centre. FC Barcelona. is one of the greatest European football clubs. No wonder, since football is the most popular sport in Catalonia. But for Catalans 'Barça' is more than just a club. On one hand there is the impressive track records of famous players such as Kubala, Luis Suarez, Maradonna, Johan Cruijff, Romario and Ronaldo. On the other hand there is its alignment with Catalonian history. During the dictatorship of Franco, when all show of Catalanism were forbidden, Barça became a kind of a national symbol. Besides a visit on your own, there is also a guided tour through the stadium and/or you can visit the Barça museum. Leisure activities:

- Boat trip. Cruise and admire the coast line of the Costa Brava and the Costa Maresma between Tossa de Mar and Calella. See the historic sites, the remaining of the occupations by the Greeks and the Romans, the botanical gardens of Blanes, the beaches of Lloret and the medieval town of Tossa. The boat cruises according to a fixed schedule visiting all main resorts along the coast.

- The Botanic Gardens of Blanes. The Botanic Gardens of Blanes, founded in the beginning of the 20th century, is one of the most beautiful Botanic Gardens of Europe with an area of 16 hectares. About a million plants from over 6000 species, divided in four main areas. A stroll through the gardens takes you to the cliffs of the coast with breathtaking views of the Costa Brava.

- Flamenco Show/St. Susanna. The Flamenco show is a Spanish night in an old Catalan Farm House in St. Susanna. Enjoy the ambience and art of southern Spain with a great flamenco show and afterwards you can try your own moves on the dance floor.
