Girls Cup Maastricht Maastricht, Netherlands - 14 untill 15 May 2010 (Ascension) (nl)

The Maastricht Girls Cup is strictly ‘girls only’; not just on the pitch but, apart from club-members of the organizers, also during the fun activities that are also part of this tournament. The tournament starts with the check-in on Thursday afternoon, after which the evening is free to relax and acclimatize. Both events take place at the club house. On Friday it’s time to play some football. The first preliminary matches start in the morning and the welcome ceremony will take place in the afternoon. On Friday evening it’s time to change the football shoes for dancing shoes as the Girls Cup disco will take place. In the meantime the teamleaders have their own get together with the organisers. On Saturday it will be decided which teams will take the cup home with them. Today the remaining preliminary matches, the intermediate rounds, the classification matches and of course the finals will take place. The prize giving ceremony will be held immediately after the finals. On Saturday evening teams are free to end the weekend by visiting the attractive city centre of Maastricht.

Maastricht/some tips: Shopping. Maastricht is the ideal shopping city. The historic shopping streets are a wonderful sight! Between the beautiful St. Servaesbridge, the Markt and the Vrijthof, you can shop to your heart's delight. There's a wonderful indoor shopping centre on the outskirts of the city centre: The Brusselse Poort. The shops are closed on Sunday. The Vrijthof and the Onze Lieve Vrouweplein are the most popular spots to enjoy a snack and a drink. It's always fun here, with crowds from early morning until late in the evening. Maastricht has plenty to offer in terms of entertainment. There is no end to (music) cafes, wine bars and discos, making this city the top of the bill for evenings out. The Burgundian attitude here is reflected in the many restaurants: something to suit all tastes!

Valkenburg (15 km from Maastricht). Valkenburg is one of the most popular tourist resort of the Dutch province Limburg. The town offers a pleasant centre with a lot of entertainment.
