The highly valued organisers of the Mergelland Trofee await their guests at the clubhouse on Friday afternoon. The canteen is decorated for the occasion to welcome the guests. After a warm welcome and all necessary information, the evening is open for the first sightseeing. The organisers arrange a match schedule with at least 6 matches, evenly divided over the 2 days. During the day the time between the matches is traditionally spent on the terraces of SV Simpelveld or in the village itself where the yearly Whitsun Fair takes place that weekend. On Sunday afternoon, after the finals, the councillor for Sport in Simpelveld will present the prizes during a short ceremony at the clubhouse terrace. The Mergelland Trofee is then to an end for this time but the Limburg hospitality at SV Simpelveld goes on for a while on Sunday evening if you want!

As well as participation at the tournament, Euro-Sportring also arranges the accommodation for the participants. Participants can usually choose between school accommodation, group accommodation (youth accommodation and bungalows) and hotels. Accommodations have been selected with care and must comply to a number of conditions such are they are within easy reach of the sports park, value for money, suitalbe for sports groups, safety provisions and a fliexible management. Aachen / Germany: Aachen has approx. 250,000 residents and is situated 8 miles from Simpelveld). Aachen is particularly well known for its spa baths built in Romans times, but also because King Charlemagne made Aachen the centre of his empire. Aachen is an attractive shopping city with no end of tourist attractions: zoo, markets, pubs, restaurants, casino and discos.

Valkenburg (10 miles from Simpelveld): Valkenburg is one of the most popular tourist resorts of the Dutch province Limburg. The town offers a pleasant centre with a lot of entertainment. Special attractions are the 'Termae 2000', a luxury thermal centre with for instance a string of swimming pools, saunas and Turkish baths for more information: www.thermae.nl.

Maastricht, 20 miles from Simpelveld, The friendly Burgundian city in the very south of the Netherlands almost seems 'foreign'. No wonder really, so close to Germany and Belgium. It's a stylish city, the main city of the slightly hilly, green province of Zuid-Limburg. This city of Roman origin on the river Meuse is seen as being one of the most sociable in the whole of the Netherlands. Maastricht is a city with something to suit all tastes: whether you love culture or history, simply sauntering around or sightseeing, shopping and evenings out: Maastricht is the place to be. The heart of the city is the Vrijthof, also known as 'Maastricht's sitting room', due to all the pavement cafés and restaurants here. A visit to St. Pietersberg caves, a few miles outside the city, is not to be missed.

Simpelveld (8,000 inhabitants). Simpelveld is a small tourist town with a cosy centre it is known as gateway to the hilly province of Zuid Limburg. Special attraction during the tournament is the yearly Whitsun Fair of Simpelveld – a colourful festival organised by the town.
